Very sad topic to even imagine but true. I come to control my stash with the knowledge that I don't want to overwhelm them more. So sad to read about the dh burning all that fabric and good thing u found that tub of fabric. I told my family that I hide money in between my fabric stash. So, they know to think twice before just getting rid of it. I have given him my direction to look at my quilts contacts.

Oh I so need to do this....Not one of my kids is interested so yes I need to arrangement something for my stash. Non quilters/sewers look at you like you are out of your mind, but I can't even begin to think of the 1000's of dollars I have invested in this so called hobby. I also collect vintage sewing machines and as I purchase them & do the research I am making a small folder for each machine w/ pics included.

Oh my Gawd , I would have been hauled off to jail right after I shot him.....what a mean cruel thing to do unless of course he resented her sewing but still.....I would come back from my grave and haunt my husband forever and make his life a pure living hell...ok I am done-lol

Oh after reading all the messages I have a friend that I met here from this message board, turned out we live in the same area, she once told me I was to inherit all her stuff-the woman only buys the best and has a beautiful home w/ custom cabinets to store it all in, she does alot of charity quilts & has a quilting biz so she also has a long arm, I used to tell her if you are leaving it to me you better leave me the house too cause it ain't all gonna fit at my house...lol

*I,___________________________,being of sound mind (a statement which does not bear close examination) do hereby record my last will and testament.
Knowing that __________________________________, my _________________ (husband, sister, or friend) hasn’t the least understanding or appreciation for, or for that matter, knowledge of my extensive fabric collection, which collection is suitably deposited in sundry places for safekeeping.
Knowing also that ___________________________ has already notified the local dumpster to pick up and dispose of the before mentioned collection "willy-nilly" (the thought of which causes me a most severe case of hives).
Therefore, I do will this collection and all other collections related to it, to my dear friend and fellow fabric preservationist, _________________________.
It is my wish that she/he, upon hearing of my death and obtaining clear proof that I did not manage, although goodness knows I tried, to take it with me, would come to my home post haste, before the dumpster, and search out my collection which is similarly stored at her own abode.
That she should rescue said collection and stack it in my quilting studio, along with my sewing machines, frames, old buttons, lace, patterns, quilts, dolls and works in progress.
*After she/he has done this, she/he should purchase refreshments for my friends not yet departed, which friends are also her/his friends, and every last one shall be in that room and they shall hold a wake and say lovely and kind things about me until they run out and then they shall divide amongst themselves, by lot, my wonderful collection.
I shall be hovering over that very spot until this is done. _______________________ shall then quit this spot and close the door, leaving trivialities to those who do not understand. This is my wish on the matter.

I brought this up a year ago. But I've changed my mind since acquiring so much. I have a $10,000 sewing machine plus 2 others that I want my husband to sell. I gave one to my daughter and she still isn't sewing, so I don't want to throw my quilting supplies at her. I want the owner of my LQS, a very good friend, to come to my house and go through my quilting things and have a sale. I have thousands of dollars of fabrics plus hundreds of dollars of rulers and gadgets. I want the money to go back to my husband. My sister died and I gave her daughter her Bernina sewing machine and her quilt blocks that just needed to be sewed together (some were hand embroidered, beautifully) and they are all sitting in her garage since 2003. I should have sold the machine and gave her husband the money and I should have kept the blocks. I would have made quilts out of them. I am so sad to see them just sitting in boxes. I have went and visited her and asked if we could go through the boxes and I could show her her mom's work, but she wasn't interested at all. I want to ask for them. She crochets. She has no interest in quilting whatsoever. She wants to sell the machine and collect the money. Her mom scrimped and saved for that machine. I feel sick about it.
