I've talked to DH about a Murphy bed if we ever downsize and move for our retirement (not even close yet!). If you don't have guests often, I think it's a very smart solution to give you more space rather than a room sitting empty 50 weeks a year.

Me too!!!
I repossessed my daughter's room and converted it back to my sewing room when she left for college. I had a sleeper sofa in there for when she would come visit. However like most sofa sleepers it was uncomfortable. I installed a Murphy Bed and they love it. It folds up out of the way and when closed, I have a design wall. For those of us who do not have a dedicated room and must share on occasion, it is wonderful.
