Good news! I found my seam ripper when I cleaned yesterday! I also bought a small basket to hold my little things in when I sew. It's a Kenyan basket that matches the larger ones that I've purchased in the past to hold my scraps and fat quarters. Now I have a trio...very pretty!

My husband attached a long magnetic strip to the wall for me. I put the seam ripper, scissors and all other metals on it. Above it is a small piece of peg board with hooks for the non-metal stuff and the rest goes in a small tray right by the machine. This works for me and everything is in reaching distance.

This is a tote I made in class. The base is 2 gal. paint bucket from Lowe's. I made the covering with all the pockets around it. I had a small garden tote (pink) that fit down in side of it that had side pockets also. It holds just about everything I need and is so portable. I had everything in a tackle box but got tired of opening and closing it all the time to find something. My everyday snips, small scissors, pencil, etc. are in the right hand desk drawer….

Those Longaberger baskets, they need to be used.... I have 4-5 seam rippers, several scissors , marking pens, in the basket, so if I do not put one back ,Oh well, theirs another one to use. Buy seam ripper every time you buy fabric , soon you will have so many, that you do not have to look for one.

I use the wet Swiffer pads on my kitchen floor and keep the containers. They have clear plastic tops. I line them up along side the wall and toss everything into those when I put them down.

I like to find odd cups and small vases and little trays and bowls at thrift/charity shops and use those. To the right of my machine are several cups/trays/bowls and they all hold something different. Marking tools in one, stilettos & scissors & snips in another, bobbins in another... That way I really don't put things away so much as I just drop them into whatever bowl/tray/cup they belong in.

I have a cookie tin that I keep those things in that I lose all the time. When I can't find it I look in that cookie tin and there it is. So far it works well.

I try to keep the tops of the tables free from "things" There's different places for each item. The latest holder is a pincushion, trash bag and tool holder all combined. Holds small scissors, seam ripper, stiletto, pencil or whatever I need for the current project.
