Finally Consolidated Sewing and Office into Master Bedroom

2 Attachment(s)
Since it's only me living here and the cats and dog could care less what I do with my space, I have taken over the Master Bedroom with my sewing/cutting tables and my office table and desk. Now there is plenty of room for me to play. I moved the bed to the bedroom that was used to be the office and that works a lot better for me.

Here are pics of my new playroom. (No pictures of the bedroom, it's still a mess in there, but who cares. hehehehehehe)

Hooray! Why not use your space in whatever way works best for you? Looks neat and spacious. Have fun in there.

ljfox 10-24-2012 05:56 PM

It looks like it should work well for you. Congrats!

LoisM 10-24-2012 06:22 PM

THAT'S a fantastic idea!! I never thought to do that (and I live alone too).

landers1 10-24-2012 06:25 PM

Looks great I envy large space

barny 10-24-2012 06:43 PM

Good for you! Why not! Do what makes us happy and more comfortable with what we do. My DH and I are old and we do whatever we want to do in our house. Our kids just shake their heads. So----------?

Pickles 10-24-2012 09:00 PM

Looking good wish I had that much room I'm using half of my living room witch only
leaves a path through it to the kitchen. so yours is a whole lot better. :}

misskira 10-24-2012 09:12 PM

I took the biggest bedroom for my sewing room since its the only downstairs bedroom. And I don't live alone. I have a hubby and 2 little boys. It's the only way to keep them out of my stuff and allow metro have a place to work while they are up, and so my crafting noise doesn't keep them awake. Dh and I only use our room for bed anyways, so this is a much more useful way to use our space.

Looks great, and I agree, why waste all that room to sleep. It works much better as a Sewing Studio !!!

QuiltnNan 10-25-2012 04:26 AM

wow, lots of room indeed. congrats on your new space

lovelyl 10-25-2012 04:50 AM

Looks good! We built a "mother-in-law" apartment, but my MIL won't move in with us. I am seriously thinking about turning the huge living room there into a sewing room. Either I will get a large sewing space or, as soon as I relocate my sewing stuff there, my MIL will decide to move in! I actually hope she does move in - I love her to pieces!

Pieces2 10-25-2012 05:00 AM

A sewing room definitely is more important than a bedroom. :)

IzzysGrammie 10-25-2012 07:09 AM

I love creative decisions! It's your home and what a great idea!! I live with my oldest daughter in the basement of her home and I've turned a bar into a sewing center... not exactly what you normally do with a bar, but it sure works for me! haha!

Boopster1 10-25-2012 07:35 AM

WoW, I too wish I had that much space. And it's so tidy! My sewing room is never tidy.....lol.

Jingle 10-25-2012 08:50 AM

Great idea, put that big room to better use. Way to go.

MimiBug123 10-25-2012 03:14 PM

Your sewing space is so neat! Mine looks like a tornado just went through! Congrats on your decision. Use your space in a manner that works for you!

Dee 10-25-2012 08:05 PM

Great sewing room. Happy stitching.

ghquilter53 10-26-2012 04:11 AM

Smart thinking. I have a friend who put up a longarm in her living room. She said she doesn't entertain and all her friends are quilters too.

coopah 10-26-2012 04:13 AM

That's some room! Have fun playing in it!

HillCountryGal 10-26-2012 05:28 AM

That's another sweet thing about getting older and/or living alone. You can create workrooms and rearrange anyway you want! You go girl!!

damaquilts 10-26-2012 05:52 AM

Love the idea. I do have a bedroom in my brothers house that is my sewing room but I would love to have a place of my own and would so turn the living room into a sewing room or whatever was the biggest room in the house. I have no company and my Daisy doesn't care what I use the room for as long as she can be under my feet in it. :)

lisalovesquilting 10-26-2012 06:04 AM

Good for you! I love a big space.

echoemb 10-26-2012 06:07 AM

Looks great. Like you I live alone and turned my living room which is the largest room in the house into my sewing room and I have a little sitting room off of the dining room so that is now my living room. dogs don't care where their beds are as long as it is where I am so we are all happy.

haha I know what ya mean about the dogs! my dogs are under foot or laying next to my chair or at the ft of the bed. too many people in the house to spread out my stuff yet . . . someday

cherrio 10-26-2012 10:57 AM

nice use of space. sigh. I have a desk or the kitchen table. I may just give up sewing and go back to crocheting or crosstitch for the next yr. I envy your space

jrhboxers 10-26-2012 02:42 PM

Use what is best for you!!! When we moved here, I took the 'master' bedroom. Mostly because it has hardwood floors. Even DH agreed that it was a better idea.

BTW we are renting or we might have done something about the floors.

quiltjoey 10-26-2012 07:25 PM

I love your BiGGGGGGG space. Mine is a small bedroom but it makes me happy to go there and just sit and enjoy "my space". Enjoy yours!!!

Candela59 10-26-2012 08:23 PM

What a nice big work space! I actually moved a few months ago and had to down size. The sewing desk my Hubby refinished for me wouldn't even go through the doorway after we removed the door. Now my "small" machine is on a card table and the "big" machine is on the dining table. But I do still have a sewing room and am very, very happy about that. :)

Vanuatu Jill 10-26-2012 08:30 PM

Oh, are you lucky! It is so big, do you have a road map to find your way around???LOL. Enjoy all your time spent creating in that great space!

sparkys_mom 10-27-2012 04:49 PM

Good for you! I did the same thing last year and it is working really well for me. I sleep in the smallest bedroom - why not? You only need a bed to sleep but quilting is a whole different ballgame. :D

Izaquilter 10-27-2012 05:32 PM

I'm jealous! We just moved 5 months ago & my sewing room is 'in waiting" Way too many things to be done first before we can do mine! But looks GREAT & ENOY that's what it's for!

nunnyJo 11-03-2012 05:16 AM

good for you, nice space

saragasch 11-11-2012 01:33 PM

Oh, lots and lots of space! How wonderful....

Debbie C 11-12-2012 03:11 AM

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Love your new larger space!!

Stitchnripper 11-12-2012 02:07 PM

You are a smart one! Looks great!!

Rosebird 11-27-2012 01:30 PM

what a terrific and wonderful Idea!Enjoy yourself and create more and make more Quilts

quiltstringz 11-27-2012 01:34 PM

Looks Great! I am glad you decided to use the space how you want to.

My husband and I recently had a discussion about swapping my sewing space with the master bedroom - his suggestion. I'm still digesting the idea. We don't use our bedroom except for sleeping (unless naps or ill) and it would allow me to have a very nice space for my huge hobby. It would also allow me to have space for a twin or day bed for a resting/reading spot and also for a place for my teen granddaughter to use when she comes to visit. I'm still thinking about it. right now I have no place to set up my EZ quilter (short arm type quilting frame for use with domestic machine). Using the master bedroom would allow me that space. I like the fact that you used your space the way you need to!!

Bluelady 11-28-2012 11:04 PM

Looks great! As my family leaves, I tend to take over more of the house with sewing too!
