GO! die storage

1 Attachment(s)
I've got several dies that I wanted to get up off my table, but didn't want to spend the (at least) $16 for a wire rack that Accuquilt sells. I was perusing the storage section at Walmart yesterday looking for some things for work, and found this rack in the kitchen section. It's perfect - holds 8 dies and two mats just fine (2 dies in each section). And it was only $4.97!

Great Idea. Love the writing on the dies. What did you use? Luann

I used a silver Sharpie pen. I was tired of trying to find where to lay my fabric without cutting myself, and wanted to waste less fabric. The foam really absorbs the Sharpie, though, so be sure to pick up a couple of the pens!

The ink does dry pretty quickly though. I did them all one night and was able to use them the next day without fear of the pen getting on my fabric.

I like the idea of writing the cut fabric size on the die. I'm going to do that on all my dies. I bought a rack like that at Walmart but it doesn't compare to the Accuquilt rack for sturdiness and weight. It kept tipping over.

Perfect post for me to see today. A friend of mine was just talking about this and wondering what she could do with her dies. I will be sure to pass this on to her. Thanks for sharing.

I actually use the same rack from Walmart and it works great I think. But, I love the idea of writing on the die what size to cut the fabric! Brilliant!

The only reason I wrote the fabric size on there is because I walked away for a while to have lunch, came back and had forgotten, and had to re-measure. Thought to myself "I'm not doing this every time I need to use a die!". I'm to dang lazy for that LOL! After that, I pulled all the dies out, outlined them, measured them and wrote it down. Apparently my short-term memory is shot....

Oh wow thank you so much for sharing. I am in the process of redoing and organizing and was lost at the low $ way of doing this.
