Help finding armchair storage
Does anyone have a good pattern for an armchair storage? I'm looking for something that hangs over the arm of my favorite chair that will store my Kindle, pencil and paper and the TV remote etc. I'm tired of looking at the clutter on the table next to my chair and would like something that is close at hand. TIA

For an armchair caddy, I measured the arm of my favourite chair and added extra for the part to go down under the cushion and extra to go over the arm and hang down the side. I them decided how wide I wanted the strip of fabric to be for my stuff. I used a length of pre-quilted fabric and used bought bias tape to do the edges. I sewed the bias tape across the top of the pocket section. I then folded up the one end the amount I wanted for my pocket and pinned it in place. I then sewed the bias tape all around the edge of the strip. That was it except for an extra feature I put on the cushion side of the strip. I did my strip long enough that I could fold up a section and sewed across the width creating an open ended pocket to slip an empty paper towel cardboard into. This keeps my caddy from pulling up out of the chair/cushion crack. I hope this gives you an idea for making your own. |
I took two placemats. Cut the top one to be shorter and sewed it onto the bottom one to make pockets. Didn't have to bind it because the edges were already finished (just top stitched around the edge) I attached it to the arm of my fabric lazyboy with those clear screw-type arm cover pins. The pockets are set to whatever size is needed for the most used items.

I am going to show my ignorance, Ann S. and ask what are and where does one get 'those clear screw-type arm cover pins'? TIA, Marcia in TX. |
I've found them at Walmart in the hardware section. I think they were with the small screws and things like that.

I've bought them at Hancock's and JoAnn's. They're intended to keep the protective extra arm covers on the couch or chair where you're sitting.

I made one for my bed, and put it between the mattress and the box spring. Took a table runner and turned up the end about 10 inches. Then sewed up from the end making pockets. It holds my portable cd player & headphones, a puzzle book and pencils, and glasses.
