Here's my little sewing room! <photo heavy>

It took me a year to get it this far organization and decor wise. It's not clean, but this is more realistic. It's in the basement, which I don't much like. At least there is a window. I've found that since I "windy-ed" it up some, I like it better.

I really like your sewing room. I am a bit jealous. Hope you enjoy your room!

I think it looks great and doesn't look like it's in the basement. Love the way you painted your desk.
Windylu, I like your style! That chair is gorgeous, and the snazzy paint job on the desk is super. Hope you have many happy hours there.

I like it! I especially like the fun, creative stuff like the stripes on the drawers, etc.
What a great space.
It looks really vintage, I like it
That is so 50's. Love it! Using suit cases for storage! How smart is that! You go girl!!!!!
Thanks! I had a lot of fun with the desk and the chair. The desk I found free on the side of the road and the chair was a $4 find at Goodwill. I think I put about $20 into the chair and I had the paint and masking tape for the desk on hand.
The hairpin leg table was also free - I just had to go pick it up. I love Craigslist. |
Great room - love the colors!
What a great place to escape to and sew. It shows not only that you are very creative but aso frugual. Love the way you envision varisous ways to recreate. Great ideas!
Great job decorating your room. Mine in in the basement also. Its small and just painted everything white.
Ditto on all the comments, but my favorite is the last picture! Love the suitcases, and wooded boxes. I have a few in my studio also.
Windy, I love your vintage things. Your room looks great.
Doesn't look like you're in the basement, very homey and used! I like it!! LOVE the suitcases!!
I like your sewing room. Big and roomy. Love the design on the desk and star quilt.
I love the little table your sewing machine is on. And all the vintage excessories. Do you use the stacked suitcases for storage?
Oh my gosh, this space has great stuff going on. There's lot of 'Windy' potential.:-) Keep going.
Doing the happy dance for you. best, d |
Looks good to me. My room is also in the basement which my hsband refers to as my apartment. Do I spend too much time there?
So Retro! Very nice
Great sewing room!
Windylou, I like your style !!!! I do what you have done. I use what I have and make it work for me. I love country clutter or whatever you want to call it. I may send in pictures of my sewing room now.
Looks great and you should be able to get lots done.
Love your sewing room. That chair -- did you cover it yourself? Love the fabric. I have a chair like that that needs covering but afraid to tackle it.
I love all your vintage stuff. It would make me so creative to sew in there!
Thanks for all the nice compliments! I do use the suitcases for storage. I had a lot of fun collecting all the parts. It's funny that star quilt was at a thrift shop - I picked it up for $10 because someone had gone and sewn (badly) some blue fabric to make it into a quilt top. The blue fabric clashed w/ the nice vintage colors, so people kept passing it over. I brought it home and cut all the offending blue off! Now that I've been paying more attention to quilt patterns, I realize what an amazing piece of work it is. I think I might have to get it off the wall, or at least do it better service than push pins!
I do love a good bargain! My husband doesn't always see where I am going with things but I get so many ideas in my head, I can see just what I want the end result to look like. My frustration comes when I can't get the "right" finished product. i.e. The cubbies were supposed to cover the star quilt wall, but we couldn't get them fastened properly for their weight (another free CL find that I painted/mod podged), so we had to use the window ledge. I'm sure I will change things up some, but it works for now. |
Somebody loves all things "vintage." Your room is so neat, I bet you just love being there and yes a window does help.
What a great room, I love all your cubbies, and that chair is to die for! Great job!
What a great room. I love your painted desk and your chair. It's perfect together. The red table reminds me of my childhood. Nice work. Enjoy your room.
I like your room. It looks real and homey & comfy. Great quilt too!
You are on a roll, looks great... love the vintage... wish many times that I had a basement or attic to get creative in...
Great space...Lucky you....
Hate to be a party pooper, but it is too dark. I don't think I could create in that. But that's O.k. because diversity makes the world go round. I hope you create many beautiful things, I am sure you will.
it looks great and its all yours you go girl
oh, it's totally too dark! I had to cover deep forest green paint along the bottom half of the wall. It took 2-3 coats of the brown to cover it up! We were in a hurry and I already had paint, so there it is. I love the color though; I used the same color in my bedroom. :)
Enjoy. Very nice sewing room. Happy quilting.
WOW! That is my kind of decorating. I love it! That floor lamp is SO fantastic, and I use alot of suitcases too!
You did a great job. |
Wow I would give my eye teeth to have a sewing room like that for my own, I so love it, you've done such a wonderful
job and hey you can always put in more lighting , like a long florescent one even. Have fun sewing. :) |
love your 50 decor-nice job
Your space is so "workable" and "friendly" with your upholstery, shelving, wooden organizer boxes and paint colors. I could study these photos for an hour to see what you have done with your space. It's totally and perfectly balanced to create and feel satisfied. The vintage feeling is so appropriate....wonderful job!!
