Hinged design wall

2 Attachment(s)
I have a design wall in my quilt room, but never seemed to have enough room to put up all of the projects I am working on at any given time. I was constantly having to take down the quilt blocks of one quilt to put up another.

I wanted a second design wall, but did not have any more wall space, so a hinged design wall was the solution. My husband brain-stormed the project and did a great job for me.

That is an outstanding design wall!

What a cool idea! those husbands do seem to come in handy! It always amazes me at how much they support our hobby/addiction and how willing they are to help out when it comes to these kinds of things

NOW thats Just GREAT!! And I bet With a Little more 'brain storming' It could Even Split the Panel's So that each one 1st folded in 1/2 before you flip it to go the wall for a room that may be smaller?

roserips 09-21-2012 10:24 AM

Love it, I wish I had room for one like that. Always need more since we always seam to work on multiple projects at once. You have the problem solved!

Chasing Hawk 09-21-2012 10:30 AM

Marcia, what a great design wall. I think this idea might just catch on. Your DH is so very creative and talented.

Love all your works in progress too!
peace

Kalico14199 09-22-2012 03:19 AM

I would love to see a picture of it.

damaquilts 09-22-2012 06:55 AM

wonderful wall.. I don't have enough room to swing one out like that. Mine is a sheet of insulation board cut in half and hinged with duct tape so I can have a narrow one or open it for when I need wider. Not real pretty but it works for me.

caspharm 09-22-2012 07:31 AM

That's a great design wall. I would love to have that.

needles3thread 09-22-2012 08:13 AM

Wow! You have one amazing husband (as do a number of gals on this board).

sylviak 09-27-2012 07:17 PM

I notice you have the sloped ceiling of an upstairs room. This is a great idea for a room with short wall space!

cjackaitlin 09-29-2012 10:19 AM

Fantastic idea, wish I had enough room. Thanks for sharing .

JenDale 09-30-2012 05:02 AM

What a clever husband you have ! He should patent that design.
I wish my sewing room had enough room to do something like this.

kiffie2413 10-01-2012 06:41 PM

Thanks for sharing!! It sure is great having hubbies that help us out, eh??!! My dh built me a design wall last year, and I am finding I need another one, too...as I also use mine for spray basting my quilts (have to add 505 spray baste only!!). So a big thank you to you and your dh for sharing this idea!!

That's a very smart idea. It's sorta like how they hang large area rugs in stores

jdromgoole 10-05-2012 12:52 PM

What is the blog address? I would like one too!

crazyquilter56 10-05-2012 10:05 PM

I hear what your saying about not enough room for more blocks had to make a second design wall too but just did it on 2 basement walls...

cowgirlquilter 10-06-2012 08:43 PM

Wow! This is great!

RUSewing 10-08-2012 08:12 AM

What a great design and a hubby to follow through! If you don't mind, what did he use for structure the design boards? (it must be light)
