How do you store your really long lengths of fabric?
How do you store your longer lengths of fabric - over six yards up to 12 yards or so?

I store my fabrics in excess of 3 yards are kept on bolts from the store. I have shelves in my closet and they ares shelved according to how much is on them. I can post a picture if you are intersted.

I store my extra long lengths the same as jrhboxers.

I roll mine on comic boards. I have very few that are more than that and they are rolled as if they were on the store boards.
|
I don't purchase much fabric over 3-4 yards & do not have access to a closet in my sewing room. I keep them on the bolt as others have mentioned. If for some reason I don't have access to bolts, I have kept them in clear tub containers to prevent dust or damage when stored for long periods of time.

2 or less go on my mini bolts but more then that are stored on the store fabric bolts. I can pick them up free at my LQS.
|
Our larger cuts are stored on Polar Notions boards or on the bolts they came on.
|
My longer lengths of fabric are on acid free foam boards cut about the same size as the cardboard bolts in the stores. They're not as thick and work great.

Has anyone thought to use shipping tubes, or the tubes that upholstery fabric comes on? Would that work?

I store mine the same as jrhboxers. I roll it on a bolt and store on the top shelf of my sewing room closet.
