My Craft Closet

It's not Narnia but to me it's just as wonderful! I live in a small home with two children, two dogs and my dh. Having a space that is all mine is a blessing, even if it is only a closet and it's amazing when I can turn my iPod on and sew away the stress.
You can't see in this picture but on the side wall I have my cutting board and rulers handing up and up top I keep my needle felting, polymer clay and sewing items. This truly is my most favorite room in the house.

Very pretty

margee 01-09-2013 04:51 AM

It's great to have a space all yours!

wytetygeress 01-09-2013 05:32 AM

I love the walls. I have the same ball in my studio.. Although It is more for show for me lol.

McKayzie 01-09-2013 06:16 AM

Thanks, I use the ball to sit on when I'm sewing. I don't have the space to fit a chair inside once the doors are closed and the ball helps me sit straighter. Don't be fooled by how clean it is, after Christmas it looked like a bomb went off so I gave it a top to bottom clean.

Love your sewing closet! A dedicated sewing spot is heavenly no matter the size.

Country1 01-09-2013 06:32 AM

Very nice and pretty! Did you paint the flowers on the wall? They are BEAUTIFUL. Looks like you have made a very useable and neat space. Enjoy!....

I wish I could paint that well but actually everything in there (except the sewing machine) came from Walmart or Ikea. I had a garage sale with all the junk that used to be in there, then I took what I made and went shopping for everything you see.

rebeljane 01-09-2013 07:43 AM

You say it is only small but at least it is all yours

kitsykeel 01-09-2013 09:46 AM

That is how I started sewing in my present home, in an upstairs closet. It worked ok but Hubby suggested I move to the basement level where I would have more room. He built shelves and re-purposed counters from our kitchen which were replaced with granite. Enjoy your beautiful space. It looks so peaceful in there.

Really great!!!!

owlvamp 01-09-2013 10:18 AM

Beautiful. I love your space. With my crafts I wouldn't fit in the space. I love the ball too. I really like what you did.

vondae 01-09-2013 01:03 PM

For a quilter, where there is a will, there is a way. And, you proved it with your wonderful little space. Love the flowers you put in the walls. These sticker art flowers, etc. are my favorite way to decorate my walls. Enjoy your SPACE. Oh, btw: you get an A+ for posture! LOL.

BridgetH 01-09-2013 01:16 PM

Great space, love the flowers.

Grama Lehr 01-09-2013 01:19 PM

I love the flowers on the walls! It makes your space so bright and cheery!
Is it hard to sew sideways? LOL!!!

lots2do 01-09-2013 01:34 PM

Isn't that a lovely space. Good for you to take the time to set it up just for you!

My sewing machine desk was built into the closet also. My husband did this a couple of years ago.
This is my main sewing room. The other room is where I do my quilting.

damaquilts 01-10-2013 05:53 AM

great use of space

MaryAnnMc 01-10-2013 06:17 AM

At first I was a little bamboozled until I realized the photo was sideways! What a great craft closet. I wish my stuff would fit in such a small space. It's beautiful and calming. Enjoy it.

Shirlrh 01-10-2013 06:43 AM

Very nice and pretty too!

I love how bright it is and I love the cork board. I tried taping family photos to the walls but they didn't stick too well. Is that a TV? I wouldn't mind one of those.

sorry for the sideways picture... On my iPad its right side up.

Yes it is, I also have satellite TV and a DVD player also. I have a Bose system to hook my Ipod to when I just want to listen to music. We put the cork board up there because my family is who I love to sew for. There is a 4 foot florescent fixture above my desk.

nstitches4u 01-10-2013 11:53 AM

Very pretty, cozy sewing closet. Thanks for sharing.

Micki922 01-10-2013 02:08 PM

It is pretty! I felt like I had "arrived" when I finally got my own sewing room! The flowers are so pretty. Enjoy. Micki

LoisM 01-10-2013 02:18 PM

I just love it!!

JaniceP 01-11-2013 05:29 AM

Very nice usage of closet space. I love the flowers, gives the space a special feel for sure.

BuzzinBumble 01-11-2013 07:15 AM

Such a cheerful and well thought out space....no wonder you love it! My goodness, you must have a great sense of balance to sit on a ball when your mind is concentrating on crafts....I'd be picking myself up off the floor so often that it would be a real aerobic work out for me. LOL

Mariposa 01-11-2013 10:05 AM

Neat sewing space you have! It may be small, but I know you enjoy it immensely! :)

DebbE 01-11-2013 10:16 AM

You did such a lovely job decorating it, too - and its well organized. Good for you! I need to do the same thing - sell off what I don't use anymore and go purchase what I need....makes sense!

McKayzie 01-11-2013 12:04 PM

Thanks everyone! Of course it's not my only space, I also have a habit of taking over the floor, a bed and any other object I can drape fabric over. I have learned to utilize every inch. Like I mentioned before my closet is not always this neat. When I'm working on a project I have strips of fabric hanging, books lying everywhere, pens, pins, papers, and tea cups scattered about. I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about.
I really love looking at other people's rooms, it makes me feel special to see a little piece of their world and know even though every space is different we are doing the same things.. a labour of love.

imnywoman 01-11-2013 05:43 PM

Wow, love the wall!

JBeamer 01-13-2013 01:05 AM

How wonderful. A small enclosure, and you make it positive. How happy.

mjhaess 01-13-2013 08:37 AM

Great space......love it....
