Right in the middle of my trying to get everything sewed and embroidered for Christmas I had a leak in my ceiling. Of course it was right over my machine. My husband found it was leaking around a vent, but I had to get my machine moved. I stopped sewing and had to organize and rearrange my sewing room. I did get everthing sewed, except the quilting of my granddaughter's quilt. She's only 4 months old so she doesn't know it is late.

Please don't feel bad! My sewing room looks the same way.....WHY does everything get thrown in there, when the rest of the house looks perfect during the holidays?????????? Today I have to collect items for Goodwill donations (for tax deductions) then tomorrow I will venture into the sewing room. HAVE to start the New Year out with a clean sewing room!

Mine looks like yours. If I only had your shelves I would be a happy camper. I am starting on mine after New years and the first thing will be to get shelves built.

I just imagine we all understand. My sewing area is not too messy, but it's another story for my fabric room. I, like you, just turn the other way when I go past the door. I have to face the mess, but probably after the first.

I hear you! Take a nap with Otis and you'll feel much better. I have a Siamese who likes to sleep behind my sewing machine when I'm working. That's fine, but he occasionally swipes his paw UNDER my needle. I don't know what to do with that little goof!

Gee! I am just glad to know that I am not alone with the disaster rooms. I was up all nigh the last 2 nights and still had to present 1 quilt unfinished and take it back to finish- it is now finished, but we will begin tackling the mess in the sewing
room on Saturday, I killed 2 sewing machines and am sewing on the 3rd in the last 2 weeks - have to get them to the shop. We were going to break down the long arm quilter and replace som parts and give a good cleaning and retime her but my son said the way my luck was going he wasn't sure that it was such a good idea right now!

My room is a total disaster right now! I just kept putting it off because I had to get 3 quilts done for gifts. The last one, for my DD, still is not done! I think it keeps growing while I'm quilting on one side, it's growing on the other! I'm really wishing I had made it smaller instead of 90x90! After that is finally done, then I'm tackling my room. Will probably take some months cuz I need to cut scraps, organize, purge, etc. That also includes UFOs, WIPs and some garment UFOs. Wishing everyone good luck in their organizing efforts.

I have been cleaning out closets, kitchen cabinets, and old piles of stuff that I thought I would need, but it has been in the closet since we moved into this house 5 years ago and I have not missed it so I think I really do not need it. My sewing area which is part of our bonus usually stays pretty neat. I just finished the huge job of cutting all my scraps into sizes and am now ready to start the New Year cleaned and ready to go. Does feel good to be getting more organized and letting go of things that someone else can use.

I just love all the space you have in your room, and oh the shelves you have.....bet you what is in every box. Wish I had a nice room to call my own, I did have one, but have had a house guest for going on 4 years, so until she leaves, I got to use my kitchen table to do my sewing and quilting. My brother told me once, when you got a huge job to do, just take your timer in and set it for 20 minutes a day, so it is not over whelming.

OMG! I couldn't even walk in my room. I applaud you for showing pictures. Only my dh steps into my room this time of year and today he made the comment as we were putting up Christmas items, "I see you are starting to hoard now in the attic too".
