My new quilting space...

3 Attachment(s)
I recently relocated my quilting space from the small front living room (which I had to share with the roommate), to the large great room upstairs. The space is so much nicer, but I still feel like I need more room, lol. Plus, I would love to have walls and a door... The gate works to keep the dog and children out, but sometimes I just want to lock myself in and ignore the world...

First Pic: The love seat and large tv are here due to there be no where else for them to go. My fabric stash is in the black cabinet and the bins up top hold my organized scraps.

Second Pic: My computer desk, embroidery machine and supplies. I will be getting a larger desk soon... I am now a full time online student and just don't have enough space on this one.

Third Pic: My sewing desk... I LOVE Ikea, lol. The rolling bins hold all of my precuts, kits, and scraps that have been cut into certain sizes. The closet stays closed because it is so messy, but have a hanging organizer that holds my current and completed projects.

It is not normally this clean in here... Decided to go ahead and take pics after I spent Saturday afternoon cleaning it up, lol.

Nice area, I love that black desk.

Is the small white gate to keep out the roommate?.........LOL

Maybe somehow you can rig a design wall to hang on the front of the big TV. Might work?!?

How do you like the ikea desk? Is it pretty sturdy? You could also hang a flannel backed tablecloth over your closet doors for a design wall. Enjoy your space, looks great.

love the Ikea Expedit storage and attached desk - I just bought one for my daughter. I'm delivering it to her in Binghamton in a couple of weeks - it's perfect for sewing/scrap-booking.

Very nice. I had that same t.v. It took up so much room that I gave it to my cousin. When she moved, she left it upstairs. Haha

Nice working space and storage! You have more room than I do, that's for sure.

Love your sewing space with breathing room! Throw in a wonderful window like you have and I would be in there for hours just gazing out the window creating new quilts in my head. Wonderful room, congratulations!

My brother Dan lives in Conklin/Binghamton. Small world.

It's very sturdy and resiliant... It's been taken apart many times and moved and is still as good as when it was put together the first time. The only negative is that I can't make a cut out to set my machine level with the desk...

Thanks for your reply. It is really good looking.

Nice area, especially the light. I was wondering about the height of your sewing machine bed. It has been suggested for good posture, while sitting at your machine. Your elbows should be bent at 90 degrees' with hands flat on the bed. The back should be straight, knees also at 90 degree. For alot of us our sewing bed (not table surface)is somewhere between 28"-30" from the floor. You never want to be bent over and lending into your machine. BACK ACHES from neck down to your low back. Looks like a very spacious sewing area
The black table must be great to find all those lost threads, enjoy !
