Need idea
I have 2 of those cutting tables think came from hancocks million years ago u know it rolls and ends lift up to make cutting area or fold down to save space. Well my problem with height is different. Most need something to make cutting tables higher i am only. 5 ft. Seem to be shrinking as I age too!! So these cutting tables are a tad too high to be really comfortable. So do I scrap them or is there something. I can do to make these more comfortable? I am getting ready to empty my sewing room paint walls a creamy yellow and all the furniture some color so it all blends together better. This was my mil sewing room it's been 2 years she's been gone so am ready to make it mine. Figured smart as people on this board are someone could tell me about the cutting tables! Thanks!

Do they have legs you can cut down? Can you post a picture so we have a better idea of what they look like?

I have the same table; same issue...I'm 5'2" so it's really a tad high for me to be comfortable. Easiest solution I can come up with is to remove the wheels on the bottom. This does, however, delete some of the versatility of these tables. I honestly can't remember the last time I folded mine down - either or both sides - so I'm seriously considering this myself.

Those tables aren't cheap. I would think the "right height" step stool would work well. Maybe something 12' by ?? feet. That way you wouldn't have to move it much.

I wouldn't go for a step stool or any sort of a platform ... too easy to fall off, and sprain/break your leg/ankle!
Ditto ... consider removing the wheels Another option would be to have someone cut a few inches off the legs of the tables. Just be sure first as to what height you want it to be. |
If the legs are wooden, a section could be cut out to make it the correct height for you. Then drill a hole in both ends of the leg where it has been cut and place a rod or dowel into the holes. Use wood glue to hold it in place. That way you can keep the wheels on the end of the legs. Good luck with whatever you do. And yes we are shrinking with age. I am down to 5'1" from 5'3". And I now know where the height we lose goes. Around our middles. Isn't that strange!
