Quilt Room Moved From Small Bedroom to Big Bedroom and Reorganized

10 Attachment(s)
I had a very small quilt and craft room and just kept tossing things into it, so small I did not want to work in there except to put things in there, I am sure others understand on where I am coming from for sure!!!!!

I was in the process of making a den into our larger bedroom and then decided, NO, I needed a bigger room so why not change the rooms, make the small room the den...yes...so that is what I did!!!

Please enjoy my pictures of the old room and redone room!!! I enjoyed it a lot but a couple months went by and we ended up selling our home and there goes the new room!! Still wanted to share this with all and it meant so much to me......yet, here in our new place...duplex, I am going to make another NEW room in our cellar and will be better and bigger for sure, pictures to follow this winter for sure......so in the meantime, enjoy what I did and maybe can give some of you ideas:

Old Room Pic: 9 x 12 size

New Room starting with Bookcase and work around this

Using shelves for my books, they stand but I did this with them to hold books or can turn them over for a shelf on top, bought them at Michaels for $10 each

Counter top bought at Menards and shelf over window to hold curtain online, good way to use space

Storage on top of old chest, storage for stamps, etc. of craft supplies, chest draws hold heavy material

Old gun cabinet and my DH made shelves for it, his grandpa made it, see the frog handles!!

Final layout of room and had just bought this sew table at sale for $20 w/stool, perfect ending

As you enter the room before I bought the sewing table, looks complete with machine and table and...
doggies, of course they helped me organize----------------yellow lab and german short hair pointer, Ginger and Gracie...........
Guess the doggies are pleased too in the new room!!!:D

I had to add more information in a new post here due to only able to post 10 pics. Here is the beginning of using Comic Book Boards I got and reorganized for the NEW room this winter, what a space saver for sure for all of u too:

Before pics of material:

Using the boards, thicker ones are 3 yds. and smaller 1 yd., u can wrap up to 8 yds. I believe on one....could not believe this little book shelf is holding so much material.....

Ordered online at www.bcwsupplies.com and cost me $11 for 100 boards, bought 300 and lots still to use

Yes, this is what I said when I finally finished the room, took me a week to figure out what and where of things but using a focal point was great by setting the bookcase up first and working around that, it all seemed to come together for sure.......now when I redo my NEW CELLAR ROOM, that will b fun.....lots of room.....thanks for your comment.

I love the hanging bookshelves that flank the window! I would love to know where I can find some please?
Lots of work there but so worth the effort.

What size are your comic boards? After seeing all the rooms with fabric on the storage boards, I want to do that with my stash also. I didn't realize there were different sizes of boards. How do you know what size to use?

I love the magazine/book shelves on the wall! Cool idea, " Oh, Honey." LOL

I totally give you a ton of credit for the changes you made. So, the part that I liked the best was that there was room for the dogs to enter. Now it is right.....One more question? What have you made lately to show us after all the work you did to get things rearrainged? Have a great day.

Kittywolf13 11-01-2012 03:45 PM

thats very cool and nifty and creativly organized! In our art room we have a door on two filing cabinets as a desk. it was a really cool idea. my dad has the coolest ideas sometimes! :D

I am so sorry, thought I wrte u back.........got them @ Michaels, $10/each, u r suppose to stand them up or turn them over with shelf on top but I looked at them and said, no will turn them the other way to store my books....worked out nice as u can see......better than putting them in those book holders....

Now remember, this was in the home we sold back in June......so I do not have this any more, boo hoo....but going to redo my cellar here in the duplex and hope it will just as nice ...if not better, will post when done. No, have not made a thing yet, winter coming for sure........

Good job, very nice and functional.

Love how you did the room. Your new space will be even better. That old gun cabinet is fabulous and I love the frog handles.

Now as you get your new space set up you can give us more great ideas like the shelves turned book holders. Love that idea.
peace
