Sharing my new ironing center

I finally got this done! It's made similar to my cutting table. I made a base with wheels and put some of my jetmax cubes on it for storage. I finally got the trim on the bottom of both-it really looks a lot better with the painted trim. I'm keeping all of the stuff I use a lot to iron in one of the drawers (the rest are miscellaneous junk I need to go through-eventually I'm hoping to keep fat quarters that aren't in sets in them). The white thing is a hair dryer/curling iron holder that I had in my bathroom but our new bathroom counter isn't big enough for it. I have a power strip to plug in my iron and there's a jar of scraps plus a jug of distilled water in there, along with my spray bottle and magic sizing. I can also fit my iron in there when I'm not using it. I'm sure I'll move things around and add things as I go when I decide what I need there. The top is plywood that is painted (it's actually cut from my old craft room desk) and I put a layer of insulated batting on it, and then the twill fabric topper. I used a casing with elastic so I can remove it for washing if needed.

Also the top is a "floating top" type of thing. It's not secured down but there's a frame of wood on it to keep it from sliding on the base.

Nice job on your ironing table -- The only additional thing I would do is move it a little away from the wall so when you iron long pieces of fabric it can go behind the board. Love all your storage!

bjsmith57 02-22-2014 02:16 PM

Very nice - - thanks for sharing.

It's on wheels so I can easily move it away when I need to. The wheels lock so wherever I want it, it will stay.

I love it. Is that just an old dresser?

Pam S 02-23-2014 10:36 AM

Wow. Between this and the cutting table, you are really getting organized. Great use of all those cubes.

TnBecky 02-23-2014 10:55 AM

Very nice & so handy with storage. I wish I had the room to do this.

Carol34446 02-23-2014 01:59 PM

Your good girl, keep up the good work. If I had any room I would be making one. but we have 1100 SQ FT crammed full and my sewing quilting area is 4-5 sq ft. But I loved seeing how clever you are and will save for ideas should i get more room.

carrieg 02-23-2014 02:01 PM

Adorable! So very functional!

meanmom 02-23-2014 04:33 PM

RonieM 02-24-2014 02:42 PM

I love it! It's just like I want in my sewing room. What are the dimensions (length, width, height)?

kalady 02-24-2014 02:54 PM

Very nice I covet it.

nwm50 02-24-2014 04:34 PM

Now that's a smart thing, love the usefulness of it all

gale 02-24-2014 07:33 PM

thanks everyone. It's working out great! I did swap out one of the cubes for one that works better in that space.

The size of the part with the cubes is about 60" long and about 14.5" wide. The board is about 1.5" larger all around. The height is about 34.5" total.

laughingquilter 02-25-2014 11:36 AM

I LOVE this! You've covered everything! The size, the wheels, no wasting of space underneath by having the storage cubes.......it is just awesome! Pinned it on my "sewing room" board on Pinterest for someday.................sigh.... :)

Divokittysmom 02-25-2014 11:38 AM
