The start of my new sewing area...
I had hubby put this together for me. Now I don't have to dig out my sewing box when I need stuff. The two on the outside are non-removable (well not easily) and the one is the middle is removable so I can have my pins in an easier container for basting.
Next step is for DH to build me my cabinet/storage unit. I hope he does it soon, I need to organize my growing stash! https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...45462684_n.jpg |
A cool idea. Somebody in your house is very creative!

Thanks! I have seen several uses for mason jars so I thought "why not my sewing stuff?" And with a 4 year old and 4 cats, I needed something out of her reach and something that the cats can't knock off the table/shelf.
The table I am having him build will serve as my cutting area, storage and sewing area. It will have 2 shelves with 3 slots for baskets/tubs. I drew it out for him and he says he can make it; we shall see. ;) |
One reminder: your cutting area and your sewing area will usually be different heights depending on your individual size. This helps to prevent back and shoulders from aching as much. Many quilting books will show charts to help you decide which height is best for you. Have Fun and show us pictures as you go!

Yeah I have tried to get a good height for the table but since our bonus room has the slanted side walls, it is hard to get too high.

I love your ideal and your DH. did a great job making it for you !!

That is a great idea.

What a neat idea.

Phase 2 of my area: Hubby started my table. Slight variation than I had planned but it was free (minus the wood part) It is an old office table top and drawers, he just built it high enough for me to cut easily and I found a tall chair at Target...just have to get it. He still has to finish stablizing it too.
