Will you please post a picture of your fabric on comic boards?
 

Hello all!

I have finally gotten started folding my fabric on the comic boards I purchased a few months ago - and I think I'm doing it wrong. :mad: Will some of you please post pictures on this thread of your successful efforts so I can get a better idea of the folding?

You can do a search on "folding fabric on boards" and see other posts too. I'm finally organizing my fabric and want to do this too.

I leave the manufacturer's fold where it is. Fold up about a third up from the bottom and fold about the same from the top. Then wrap around the board as if it were a bold in the LQS. One thing I learned by experience is for fabric lengths longer than 1 yd, fold the fabric lengthwise then up from bottom, down from top. When wrapping start at the folded edge and wrap toward cut edge. That way if you decide to use the fabric and don't need all of it you can unwrap what you need. For lengths of fabric longer than two yards, I purchased some foam core boards from U-Line. Two benefits from these are the boards store the wrapped fabric better and these stiffer boards brace the comic book boards on the shelf. I love love this idea of storage and learned about it on this board!

Here is a picture of one of my "rainbow" stash drawers. I use the comic boards for 2 yd - .5 yard lengths. I just love this method and they fit perfectly in these dresser drawers - 4 drawers total. The top drawers are narrower so I fold fat quarters to fit them.

I WAS doing it wrong - instead of folding in thirds like SimpsonFrances, I was folding in fourths - and the bolts are taking up more room than I wanted them to. I haven't gotten into the process too deeply - will re-wrap and see what happens . . . .

ADDITIONAL INFO/EDIT: I have kept my stash in wire basket drawers, but you can't see all of your available fabric. I would rather continue to use them than spend money buying another shelf unit, etc., so I'm trying the comic board method - but I wasn't getting the result I wanted. Will keep you updated!

Please note this is a work in progress and I haven't finished putting all my fabric on the boards. I put these in $20 Walmart bookcases for easy access and storage. Hope this helps. BTW, my first time to post and/or add picture. Love this board and follow it every day! Thanks to all.
