I have a cabinet indentical to that one. I love it and just set my machine on top. I leave the extentsion up all the time.
I would never cut into the top.

If you are going to spend that much I would buy a sew-ezi table. I love mine.

This is the cabinet that I have and love it. When you open the left side it has small bins for miscellaneous items and the right side is a cupboard. It was easy to put together and for me to compensate for the height problem I use an adjustable secretaries chair on casters. Works great. The price here looks really good. I have had mine for 4 years so I paid less for it. Holds everything you need.

I have three of these with two I cut holes for my machines and added a shelf the depth of my machines. works nicely with both. I love them!

How did you cut the hole? How about the space under your machine, where your legs fit, is that hindered?

The cabinet door is that shelves or what is in there? If it is just a cabinet with shelves if you want them, you could put one of those apparatus that go in kitchen cabinets to allow you to open your cabinet door and the mixer or what ever pops up and you can work right there. It would be like a short L. When you were ready to put it away, you just Somethinglet it go back into the cabinet.

The table you are looking at does not have anywhere for you to put your legs under. That would make swing awkward or uncomfortable for me.

I am just beginning to do the larger quilts. I started doing them on my dinning room table so I had room. Eating is over rated at my house I guess but I must sew. My sewing room is. A work in progress yet. I love all the ideas here.

I would just buy a lift so you could use the cabinet I found one at a woodworking shop. Easy to install

If you have the right tools and/or the right person (I would ask my DH in a minute to do this for me) who knows what they are doing, I think you could easily convert this setup especially if you are trying not to spend more money or do not need another cabinet to fit into your room. However, if money and room space are not a problem, then I would buy a cabinet that has the lift mechanism for the machine. Your call, really. It certainly is nicer to sew with the machine on an even level with the cabinet. Hope you find what works for you.
