Default UPDATE: Reorganizing my quilting supplies

I have been busy getting ready to move all my supplies and fabrics into a small bedroom (9 1/2' x 9 1/2'). I have been trying to come up with simple, inexpensive, compact ways to store stuff. So far I have sorted ribbon and threaded through plastic that I will hang on pegboard on the wall. Lots less room than 4 drawers of spools and still having a real mess. The photo shows all the ribbon (139 spools). As you can see I sorted by color.

I am going to try using this clothes hamper to sort scraps. It has 4 compartements I will sort by light, medium and dark and one for plaids, stripes, and checks. Right now scraps are sorted by color.

The last photo shows the shelves that my son is building for me. Almost finished. Of course, I have to paint them.

Next photo will be the completed project! Sometime next week, I hope. Don't know how long it will take me to move all that fabric.

You sure are going to have a great room when you finish. Just take your time, and when finished pat yourself and son on the back!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not familiar with the "plastic" for hanging ribbon. Where do you get it? Do you purchase it or make it?

Conniejudi, I saw a blog (sorry forgot which one) for RIBBON RINGS that a young woman was selling, they are a rectangle of plastic 21/2" x 2" with two slots cut in them, then the ribbons were threaded on the plastic and hung on something. I didn't want to stop what I was doing and try to find these and didn't want to wait to order them, so I just cut up an empty milk bottle into squares, cut two or three slits and threaded the ribbon through them. I think I am going to hang them on pegboard when everything is finished. BTW: I am always looking for how to do something on the cheap or recycle something. I like to save my money for fabric!

Looks like you have been very busy! Looking good, remember not to get discouraged if you decide to change something. I think we have all changed at least one thing as we go along.
You'll have it up and running before you know it.
Have fun and good luck. Great to see your son is helping in this endeaver!

Looking good. Anxious to see it upon completion. But do we ever really completely finish it without change again?
