Default This weekend's thrifty crafts for the studio

This weekend I took some Ragu sauce jars and turned them into craft storage for the sewing studio. I simply removed labels, washed the jars, spray painted the lids to match my space, took some key rings I found in my office supplies and tied them onto the jars. Also, last week a neighbor gave me a tv tray. I spray painted the legs white, used leftover batting to cover the top, used a fat quarter (we all have one or two of those lying around ;-) and stapled it all with a gun. This made a fold away ironing center for me to use on the smaller items I have to iron when piecing so that I don't have to get up from my workspace, I can just swivel in my chair from my sewing machine to my ironing station.

I luv making free finds into useful things for my sewing space. I also managed to find the time to quilt and finish a baby quilt. It was a very productive weekend.

I save the large peanut butter jars for buttons, safety pins and many of the different straight pins. I'm always knocking little things over. I have a small magnet in a couple jars of the safety pins. If I drop one I just use the jar to pick it up.
