Glad to see this thread!
I got pretty annoyed today which wasn't the best way to start a New Year but the flip side of that was that when I put myself in solitary confinement I went through my clothes and gathered a large and small bag for the local thrift store. I took the bags right out to the car. I have a few odd pieces of fabric -as in what was I thinking? I can take those to the free table at my quilt guild this week. I, too, have magazines to go through and recycle. Felt good to start!

I'm shredding papers and cutting scraps that have been on the cutting table way to long. This will take more than a day.

I organized the area where my new cutter is -- trying to make room for the dies and mats in a very small area.

thank you Neuras for starting this thread...I think it should be a bi-weekly post (some of us need routine motivation). I do the same as Zozee...I write a 2017 list of goals and finishes on a poster board which is hung in my sewing room.
Once my DH and I take down the tree and box up all the ornaments today, I will start tidying up my sewing area and dig out my UFOs.

Yesterday I finished straightening my sewing room that had been infiltrated by Christmas items, canned food to be stored and more. Now I need to proceed to the room where I store my fabric (no small task!)

Not organizing today but later this month I'll be putting in all new shelves for my fabrics. Taking the bookcases I'm using now upstairs for the books that have been in totes since 2007. If I measured correctly I'll gain 6 extra feet plus all my bolts will finally be off the floor. This will be a great time to dust everything off and start fresh again, organize my fabrics by color, collections, etc. May even find some UFOs among the shelves and drawers. Found one project I'd started back in 2002, pulled it out and its now a small wallhanging waiting to be quilted. Its fun to find things you've totally forgotten about.

Well, I have my sewing room completely disassembled at the moment! Decided to add my other Gidget table so that I could have both my machines set up at the same time. (I do garment and other sewing as well as quilting so I have a bells-and-whistles machine along with my Juki 2010Q for straight stitchery.) So in order to do that, I needed to get rid of one storage unit which was never optimal anyway and just seemed to be a junk collector. So you know how that goes - dominoes! To move one thing you have to move three other things and find storage for the things that got moved outta the other thing!

This is about the 27th configuration this sewing room has been in since my mom passed in 2012. It used to be her bedroom so it stood pretty much unused for a year or so, because I felt so sad when I was in there. Eventually I got into my thick head that my mom knew how much I loved to sew, so she wouldn't want that room standing idle... she would want me to use it!

I've got the furniture in place now, just sorting through fabrics and little things and trying to figure out where to store everything. One funny story - in that room, I have an old rectangular laundry hamper, which I had to move during the reno. I said to myself, this thing weighs a ton - what the heck is in here? Well, it's a cornucopia of KITS that I had completely forgotten about! Some are just table runner or pillow kits, but several are kits for full-sized throws or wall quilts. Somewhere on my computer I do have a list of the kits waiting to be sewn, but I thought I should also take a photo of each kit so I have a visual... now I can look at the photos and pick which one to do next! So I'm in the process of taking those photos as well.

Sigh.... going back to work tomorrow will NOT be as much fun as I'm having today.
