I like the idea of storing on top of the mattress. I think I'll try that. I got behind on labeling quilts, so have been working on that. Almost done, I have 5 more to do and then they will go on the guest bed mattress! My task for this week is to go through our receipts and get things in order so we can do our taxes . I did another purge of my studio and filled a large green trash bag with bits and pieces of found objects that I had been saving for assemblage art... which I never got around to making --at least they were free to begin with

I plan to go through some boxes of odds and ends and fill a box of fabrics for a friend that is coming tomorrow night. I also plan to do my weekly studio organizing of stuff that is standing out and need to be put away so I can work.

Wow Anna, so glad I am coming over tomorrow.
I am going to be moving my longarm into the house finally. That is what happens when hubby gets a new car that needs the garage. It will be so nice since I am at the hormone age of menopause and heat is hard to handle and it takes a bit to warm up the garage in winter with cold temperatures outside.
My first steps will be to get peg boards to mount on wall for the thread, move sewing table to one side by design wall, clean up the unfinished projects that are in tubs all over the place and the scraps which I am working on, then put peg board on back of old entertainment center that is my shelving for the area so I can hang up rulers and such. Have to get new lighting in so can see better. Will be way to dark for longarm quilting. Move out bookcase so desk can go there and then dump an old shelving unit that is only sitting there taking up some space. Yeah, will have to do some scrapbooking to get my photos cleaned up. Will be purging old books as well. Some major hoarding elimination will be going on.

Over the last couple of days I've gone through my bins and drawers and a bit of the closet. I've offered up two boxes of scraps in the 'offers' section as well as have some larger pieces going to another quilter. I've kept some much larger pieces for myself. It feels great! Still a way to go but at least I feel like I can move a bit in my sewing room. Found a couple of UFO's as well. Getting there.

I just finished taking apart 30 something shirts. I cut lengths of strips in the widths I needed from each shirt and saved remnants for 4 patches. kept all the buttons and discarded what could not be used. Took some time but I'm finished and all is right with the world. So that item can be crossed off list.

I can't say it is organizing, really, but me and Mr Hubby are STILL working on creating my sewing space downstairs.

It's getting there, but since we are only there on the weekends, it is taking quite a long time. Hoping to texturize the walls, prime and paint this weekend. If we can get that done, next weekend will be the flooring. Week after that the counters/tables. Then hopefully....even if not "done" I can start moving my stuff in. Right now it is in such a state of flux ....makes me sad.

Emptied and put away the contents of a clear bin like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite...e-Box/19400063 and a clear smaller bin about half its size. They held pages from magazines waiting for plastic sleeves, a few quilt books, copies of patterns I will be doing next **, and other quilting papers that needed to be put away. (** The copies of patterns are for my own use. I have found that I scribble too much on patterns so I copy them now and keep my original notes to the minimum. The very first pattern I worked on was one of those with the number of pieces in parentheses for the various sizes so I cut too many of one and too few of the other. So I highlighted the size I was working on and thus the copying started to help thwart as few mistakes as possible. I fold those copies and paper clip to the pattern I am using.) For the magazine quilts and such, they went into plastic sleeves and into corresponding binders. Binders are finally numbered and labeled. Not fancy- just an index card cut lengthwise into thirds and a sampling of what is in that binder with a # at the end. I then did a quick Word Document with a general listing of what was in those binders and inserted the sheet on inside of binder- binding, borders, HST methods, Labeling or Appliqué, selvage, minis, home decor or just one identifier on the index card- Bonnie Hunter. Too many times I am looking for an article, quick tutorial I printed or the like and can't remember where I put it. So hoping this helps. Put the few quilt books back on book shelf. The remaining magazines and some plastic sleeves will go with me on our next car trip so I can tear the ones I want to keep. Collected and organized patterns back into the portable file box. Will finish organizing cutting table cubbies and then off to bed.

I started sorting and trimming these donated batiks yesterday. After a few hours, I only had a small pile done. Lol!

Today, I decided to sort them by color and then decide how to use them in baby quilts. I have had these fabrics for several years so time to do something with them. . The baby quilts will be donated back to the group that gave me the batiks.

Yes,rteacher sorting donated scraps takes a lot of time...I had 3 day mess in my living room as I sorted through 2 bags a couple of weeks ago, but have since made a bunch of solid scrappy blocks from those pieces...have a bunch of HST cutoffs to use in a project I have started, too.
