We are finally back from 'vacation' and my life is supposed to be getting back to normal. But ... instead, I am getting ready to hop on a plane with seven other people for a three-day trip to Disneyland! YAHOO!!!
I have a small quilting project - handwork on a wool applique wall hanging - to take with me for quiet times. I am not sure I will get anything done on it, but it will be there just in case.
I had to laugh at myself when I was getting ready - the last time I flew on an airplane, I bought one of those round cutters that are "airline approved". I hated the darn thing and when I got back I gave it to a friend who wanted it. Now ... I had to go buy another one of them to take on this trip - I don't understand airlines. It is safe to take knitting needles on a plane, but a pair of sharp pointed embroidery scissors can't go???!!! Oh well, this one I will keep - just in case I travel by airplane again.
I dropped off two charity quilts I had done on the longarm and was thinking that it was great to only have three more to do. The quilting fairies are laughing at me now because I ended up coming home with two more to do for another group. They are both about 80 x 80 and the lady sent along one big piece to use for the back on both of them. I am hoping to place them in such a way that there will be plenty left to use for the binding too.
I am not complaining - I am new to longarming and I really appreciate the fact that I get to 'practice' on their quilts. One of the new ones is really scrappy so an all-over pattern is what I will do on that one. The other one had appliqued blocks (12") and I am looking forward to doing some outline quilting around each one and then try some 'custom' quilting on the outer squares. The lady who pieced them is 78 years old and she did beautiful work - now I have to do the same, or at least give it my best shot.
Got to go and pack my bag - lots of things to do today so I am pretty sure quilting isn't going to be on the list.
