My adventures with B380 Bond, James Bond 007

I am in LOVE! My new Bernina 380 (purchased in August)caught my eye with his sleek presence -- what woman can resist a well dressed machine? Like Sean Connery in a tux so many years ago...
Eye candy got my attention, then WOW I saw this machine in action! First demonstrated by a severely physically and developmentally challenged man at the local quilt shop, I have been intrigued by the possibilities that the free hand system allows. He then proceeded to show me that his stitches were even and his seams straighter than mine! That got me challenged into working with the machine at the shop, along with the oos and aws of the children's class as they tried various features.
After checking out the various models and their features, I went for 007 --- this is the 7th sewing machine (first sewing computer) that I have purchased in 58 years of sewing. The Bernina 380 has a classy exterior but it is its ability to face the problematic seam junctions I throw its way that really amazes me. The versatility offered by accessories and various presser feet has me busy and asking for more. I love the mirror image feature for changing the way decorative stitches face --this way my butterflies can go where I want them, not just one direction which doesn't work well going opposite directions on ribbons etc. The automatic buttonhole foot --where were you in 1965 when I was doing that Make It With Wool set? Sure, I learned to do bound buttonholes, but a nicely finished same size buttonhole was all I needed. I will be posting more about my adventures with James later. He is getting ready to finish a Christmas Quilt this week.
