Measuring fabric used

I have a little calculator that I keep by my cutting/sewing table.
I figured out the number of square inches in a yard of fabric
(36x36=1296) .
Then measure your quilt and multiply length x width to give you the number
of square inches in your quilt.
Then divide that by 1296 and it will give you the number of yards used.
Then add a bit more for your binding.
