Cool Anyone interested in a meeting in Northern England area?

I read about all our US cousins meeting up, and wonder why they should have all the fun...

So, would anyone be interested in doing a gathering? I'm suggesting Northern England for purely selfish reasons - I live in Chester - but would imagine a big city would be a good idea - Manchester springs to mind, but open to suggestions (Birmingham has The Cotton Patch...)

Let me know what you think!

Depending on when and where, there a small possibility this US "Cousin" might invite herself. Hubby and I *may* go to UK to spend Christmas with the kids (in NE Essex/SW Suffolk). Dates not sure yet. But I do know that while we are up there our friends would not remain our friends if we did not stop and visit them. Our friends are up in Yorkshire ... Bradford, Otley, Skipton, Bolton ... and another town that begins with a G but I'm drawing a blank on the name. One of my quilts is now living in Bradford, so I can visit that as well

I'll keep an eye on the thread and let you know if our travel plans come through.

Would be interested in a meet up but live quite a way from Chester. I am going to the Harrogate show on the 24th November but I also have some friends who live in Leicester so could work around it. DoghouseMom would be great to see you if you made it up North.

I've been thinking the same thing myself. I'm in the south west but have family in the north west. Would be lovely to have a meet & greet somewhere but depends where and when.

Hello!

Sorry to disappoint Paulswalia

Good to hear from all of you. We have quite a range geographically but it sounds as though we might be able to manage something in the North West or Yorkshire region - does anyone have any suggestions of reasonably sized towns/cities to meet in? I'm afraid it looks that poor Liz would need to do some specialist travelling!

As for timing, I would guess that most likely it would be some point in the New Year since we're coming up for Christmas (unless anyone wants to disagree with me, I'm open to that!) - that would be likely to count out DogHouseMom though, which would be a real pity - might you be likely to stay on through New Year as well as Christmas? That would give us more to work with!! LOL

It would be ideal if anyone else was able to make the Harrogate show - I will look into travel details from my end

Otherwise, people's opinions on towns and timing greatly appreciated (I've never organised one of these before so...)
