Red face Golden D'or Fabrics, Dallas

I just got back from Golden D'or Fabrics. I bought 30 yds. of quilting fabric for $.99/yd. They are having their pre-inventory sale and everything in the backroom is really marked down---low. I was in line almost an hour to get fabric cut--but I saved a bundle. Those of you in the DFW area--if you are interested--the warehouse is located at 10795 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, Tx 75220. They also have a web site. http://www.goldendoroutlet.com/

I have a ton of fabric that I purchased from them over the years, mostly garnment fabric. But I'm into quilting now.

I have to admit to something SAD about them. I ,too, got my notice about the sale so took my husband with me and we started really buying (going by their price in the e-mail) Long story short the sale was in the CLEARANCE room. I had a basketful and did not even go into that room. When they told me it was $200. I nearly choked. My husband just said "well, you wanted it and will use it,right? I feel like such a fool. I have noticed that getting older it is so much easier to get things wrong,or things to be somewhat confusing. I used to believe I was always right and now can't even come close to believing that !

Red face I know what you mean--

I almost made the same mistake and started to buy in the main part of the warehouse, but thankfully I asked about what I was getting ready to buy. When I got to the back room I was shocked--there were about 20 people lined up with really huge shopping carts already in line. I didn't have a cart so I just picked up bolts and stood in line (about 1 hr.) I believe there were many people buying for the whole next year--one lady bought whole bolts of chiffon--that lady was still having her stash measured when I left--she had at least 3 cart loads. When I got home I washed everything, however, I'm pretty sure it wasn't 100% cotton, but I can still use it. I bought mainly calico type fabrics. They also have 5 yd bolts that can't be cut for $2.50. (they are marked $5.00 but the discount is taken at the register). Today I found 100% cotton for $1.50/yd at the Home Fabrics and Rugs in Hurst http://www.homefabricsonline.com/loc.../39-hurst.html The man helping me there said he has seen about 3 quilters in his store everyday this week--the quilting fabric is in the very back of the store. Have fun!

If you only use 100% cotton for quilts, be sure to look at the content. Walmart has had some of these fabrics and they usually say, "Fabric content undetermined." This is a great sale. Wish I still lived in Central TX, and I would go! It's a long way from Galveston. Do they still have plenty in stock?
