YES!! Yes!

Although I am actually in Bedford, down I-81 near Roanoke, I have a dear QBee friend in Harrisonburg and another QBee I haven't heard from in a few months from just west of there. She belongs to a quilt guild in the area, though I can't for the life of me remember it's name or location.

I have been invited to come teach/sew with the gal from Harrisonburg, with a group she'll set up, and to stay with her. I'm hoping it will be very soon, before weather begins to hinder the drive up (about 2 hours for me). It would be so great if you would like to join us all; I don't know anyone other than that Harrisonburg QBee, so we'd both be getting acquainted.

Her name is Angela and I'll send her email address to your PM if you are interested in contacting her as being in your area. She is not in a group at present and I think she would love a sew buddy.

So glad to hear from another VA member!

Welcome to VA. Check out VCQ.org which is the address of the state guild. You can join & attend 4 meetings in various locations around the state. Their site will also give you info about all the guilds in VA. I'm in the Hampton Roads area, too far away, but hope to meet you at a VCQ event sometime.

Hi Moggie, I dont' know much about writing things in here, but I saw our question. We have a quilt guild in Harrisonburg, Shenandoah Valley quilters Guild, that would love to have you come and see all that we do. We meet once a month, the 3rd Saturday morning, and have workshops, and quilt for causes and it is just a lot of fun. There are a few people who join with us who live in Winchester and points between Harrisonburg and Winchester so maybe you could form a carpool. All the info about the guild is on line at SVQG.com. Hoping that helps a little, Marcia

G'day,

Thanks for the reply, but as I will be very new to the whole area I won't have a clue on to get there, plus I don't drive as yet. As back in Australia the road rules are way differant & also we drive on the opposite side of the road, so it going to be a "teaching an ol dog new tricks" & quite frankly it kinda scares me somewhat. My area of residence will be Millwood Pike, Winchester - so have no ideas as to where anything is as yet. But also re carpool - I would contribute to the cost of fuel, if thats any help if anybody was to pick me up.

Thanks heaps & take care,
moggie

Thanks heaps, but I am an Australian & all the directions etc don't make any sense to me as I am still getting used to things here.

I am in Millwood Pike, Winchester Virginia - near a quilt shop called Jo-Anne's.

The big problem that I face is that as yet I don't have a US driver's licence & quite frankly driving here is so differant & Australian road rules are vastly differant - plus we drive on the opposite side than in the US - so it's going to be like teaching an old dog new tricks & that makes me very nervous.

However I would gladly pay towards costs of fuel if anybody would like to pick me up.

Take care - the moggie (an Australian saying for cats & I am a cat lover)

Default Ok, got this message!

Hi Moggie again,

Hi! Hope you get this......

Now I see this message, I didn't come back to it before. I am not familiar with Winchester area and I don't drive very far from home, or I would pick you up. I know of a former member of the guild who moved to Winchester, but she no longer comes to our meetings, so I can't help you there. It has to be scary to come to another country where the driving rules are opposite of what you are used to. I know I couldn't do that. I will check on the list of members to see if there is someone else from that area. The only other one I knew of was 91 years old and she used to come with the lady I just told you about who moved to Winchester. I know there are guilds around your area too. You might ask at Joann's where they are and when they meet and just pop in and visit one to see if you like it. I didn't know that moggie meant kitty. We have three moggies then, what a sweet nickname to call them. What are dogs then? We have two of those and 4 horses. Well, I wish you well, if you would like to call me my no. is 540-652-8683 and my regular email is hillbee@embarqmail. com.....Have a great day, Marcia Hill
