Interesting. They are still having the show in Cincinnatti too in April. They must be addding a show to their yearly schedule???

I live about 2 1/2 hours from Chicago. Our quilt guild usually takes a bus up but with it being in June I don't know. Certainly hope so.

idoqlts 02-03-2013 06:05 AM

But they won't be offering classes!!

I thought this a very interesting development. I think they want to keep Cincinnatti , it has had popularity. The show left Chicago when the organizer could not negotiate a "deal" with the Chicago convention center. Its been 3 years since the last show. My take is that the Chicago show was always close to the dates of Paducah. It will be interesting to see if this show stays in Cinci, since convention centers typically look for a 3 year commitment, with options for 3 more years.
Either way I am just thrilled to have this back . In the past classes sold out very early for this show, they may not have been able to get commitments for classes or classroom spaces since this is relatively short notice.

Oh yes .... I'm in!!! The IQS in April in Rosemont (Chicago) was the first quilt show I ever attended so I have fond memories of it. I went the year before they moved it to Cinci ... I was major bummed when I googled the show the following year and the only links I could find for "IQS quilt show Chicago" brought me results for Cinci!!

I'll be there!!!

This is one show I want to go to. May have to wait until next year though so I can sign up now for a place to stay which ever state I decide to travel to. Do they hold these the same month of the year in the same locations?

BonniFeltz 02-03-2013 08:10 AM

I plan to attend. My friend and I are hoping to share a limo ride in so we don't have to battle traffic. it would be a one day trip for us. Of course these days it probably won't be a "limo" that picks us up at at least it we wouldn't have to dry and we can have a mini show and tell on the way home. LOL.

Have to miss it this year. Daughter is getting married that weekend.

This was a show that was here (Chicago) for 6 years , then they moved it to Cincinatti. This is the first year its been back , and the date that it had been for the 6 years was changed from April to the new June date. If it does go for addtional years it is most likely to be the same dates or the same weekend in June. It has always been a huge show , with preview night on Thursday night ( a great time to go to the vendor section). Its alot to take in , in one day. I the past I have gone at least two days .

What is the location of the show. I am traveling to the Midwest from California for the months of June and July and would love to attend.

Its at the Rosemont / Donald Stevens Convention Center. It is really really close to O'Hare airport. It the same exit of the interstate as O"Hare.

What is the sewing expo in April at the Schaumburg expo center. Has anyone gone to this? Is there alot to do with quilting?
I will make plans to be at this expo in June.

I'm truely happy for you. I started a few yrs ago going to the one here in Hampton Va and love it. I go every day that I can go. Last yr I went to the one in Raliegh NC and it was really nice. They supplied the machines for class so I really liked that, no carrying heavy machines. I plan on going to both again this yr. Enjoy.

You shouldn't have any problem finding a hotel...this show is near the airport and there are TONS of hotels...only 4 within a short walking distance. The hotels most likely will have a drop off available.

Can't wait to go to this show!!! I always went....saved lots to spend in the vendor area. I really hate parking at this show, so...I have my husband drop me off. Only problem is him seeing what I carrying when I get picked up.

The Rosemont show is much better than the Schaumburg show in the past. I go to both of them...

I discovered using the Valet parking was the best bargain. It not that expensive and after an exhausting day ... its so nice to have my car right there . If you go with a few people split the cost. The last year of the show I think it was $15 for the day for Valet parking.
