Lolly's in Shipshewana, Indiana

Anyone in the area going to Lolly's one and only sale on Feb. 2? If you show up on your jammies everything in the store is 30% off. The sale is only from 6:00AM to 9:00AM. The whole town is having a sale that day if you are in your jammies. I will be going but I have no idea what to expect. Will the store be jam-packed to the point that you can't get waited on? Lolly's web-site says that all the hotels are booked up months in advance for that weekend.

Let's see, it's a 5 hour drive to Shipshe and the store opens at 6...

hmmm, I think I better pass :D

But it sure is tempting.... I love Lolly's! If you go, be sure to tell us what it was like!

Oh I will definitely go. DH got me a Lolly's gift certificate for Christmas and I've been waiting for this sale. My son and dil live in Goshen so I have a place to stay the night before.

I'll be there and we live in the Milwaukee area. We book a bnb way in advance. There is a big line at 6, but we just let people run in and take our time. That is because we get there a day early, case what we want, and then go to it immediately. There are many cutters and it goes really fast. We live it. I grew up not far from there in Three Rivers. But Shipshewanna wasn't a tourist place at the time.

We did it once. Some stores open at 4, 5 and 6. Shoppers all over. Lollys is full but the store is big and they are prepared. Smartwool socks were the special thing the year I went (not at Lollys).

It is 3 hours from me but not worth it. I get 30% off in March at two shops here for my birthday so I will wait.

It's an especially good time to buy precuts, books, and things that you don't have to stand in line to get cut. I checked yesterday and LIttle Bit of Lolly's in the basement will have the fabrics on the bolts at $5.95, with a 1 yd minimum of each. Those are fabrics from the store that are brought down when new fabrics come in each season and more room is needed in the main store. The best buy there will be fat quarters for a $1.00 each and the rowboat is full to over flowing.
I will be there but then I live 20 mins away. :)

I plan on this sale every year. My husband usually comes with me and he just stands there and lets me pile him up with bolts of fabrics. It is also a great time to get things like layer cakes, jelly roles, etc. that don't need to be cut.
I live about 1 hour away and it is worth getting up early and putting on those jammies for!!

I used to go regularly with the ladies in my family! It was such fun and just a little over an hour away. At that time it was 60% off at 6:00am then 50% at 7:00 a.m., 40% off at 8:00 a.m. and so on. It was such fun to shop real bargains with a world of silly ladies and a few hubbies in the cold predawn hours at Lolly's. For 30% off, I choose to stay home and use my stash. Sorry Shippsi, but I need a better draw than 30%. I do have wonderful memories to hold on to and may one day return to the event. And yes, there are events all over town not just at Lolly's. Have fun gals and gents.

Thanks for the advice about the pre-cuts. I hadn't thought about that before.

So, if I see a man standing still, piled with bolts that'll be your DH? Should I say "hello?"

I go to Lolly's twice a month for Moda Club and Pathways to Patchwork. The prices have gone up at A Little Bit of Lolly's to 7.95 per yard and fat quarters are 12 for $2.50 or 2.75 each in the boat. So $5.95 and $1:00 a fat quarter is a good deal With that said: Pajama Days is alot of fun. Some quilt quilds come dressed in matching PJ's. The best outfit I saw was a boy about 6 yrs old in his PJ,s with a superman cape and Sponge Bob Square Pants slippers. Most fabric is about $10 to $12 a yard. I went with a freind and we had a great time. I live about an hour away. Hope to see you there.

I was there just before Christmas and bought fabric in the basement for 5.95 a yard and I bought a fat quarter for my granddaughter but i don't know how much it was. I asked the clerk for the prices and she said everything was 5.95 a yard. I only get to go there a couple of times a year when I'm visiting my son and family. Maybe they were having a sale.

If you see the shortest grey haired old lady you have ever seen, that will be me.

I live only 20 minutes away, but I won't be there. I will be working at Caroline's Cottage Cottons in Rome City, IN. We are also having a sale that day, since we have tons of gals stopping in on their way home from Shipshe. Stop in and see me if you have the chance! :)

Sounds like fun, unfortunately, I live in Southern Indiana 4 hours away. I had no idea there were so many quilters on here from Indiana like me!

You are a little late. The sale was 2/2/2013.

barbiedoll 01-12-2014 12:22 PM

I live 30 miles from Lolly's and go often. The sale is crowded, but not a mad house. However the parking can become a problem. At 9:00 (when the sale ends) they lock the doors so no one else can enter, but you will get the sale price even if it takes awhile to wait on you. They are closed until 10, they "restore" the shop and reopen at 10. Lots of fun.
Did you know there is another store called "A Little Bit of Lolly's" in the basement? It is where they sell the older bolts when the new stuff comes in. The 3 hour sale isn't happening there because it is at a discount price all the time.

barbiedoll 01-12-2014 12:24 PM

The first Saturday of February of EVERY year is their only sale.

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 03:39 AM.
