For all of you that are near (or far) We are meeting in Clare on the 15th of September at the Big Boy 10AM. North exit of Clare on US 127.

Once we get settled and chat there are a couple of quilt shops, a yarn shop and a gift shop that we can go to. I think that we can play it by ear.

I will let the Big Boy know that we are coming, pm me so I can get a head count. I also need to let Rebecca at the Amish quilt shop know so she might like to get someone to help her. The rest will be ok with us coming in unannounced.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you. Maybe we can get a group of Michigan Quilters started.

that is awfully cool, i sure wish i could join you...thought maybe i could swing it as a birthday gift to myself since hubby is on call over my b'day and we can't go do anything...but
i work monday through friday, so can not join you in the middle of the week. oh well, it was a momentary thought...
have fun and tell us about it after, and be sure and show us the treasures you find :)

Sorry, Can't meet during the week. I have to work. :-(

nmthelen52 08-25-2010 05:05 AM

I would like to come. It sounds like a lot of fun. However, I have to put my grandson on the bus every morning and we live in Lansing. I guess it depends if I want to make a two hour trip that morning. Some on my friends have visited the amish shop you spoke of, and loved it!

Drew 08-25-2010 05:47 AM

I can't attend as well - work during the week. But am interested in belonging to a Michigan Group. If you get one organized, please keep me in mind!

Thanks!

Almost missed this thread, I was watching the other one. Want to come but can't be there at 10 am. It's not quite a 3 hour drive from home and I can't leave before 8am. Hopefully, going to pick up Linda in Mt Morris on the way and we'll come together.

Gramakitten 08-26-2010 04:09 AM

The quilt shop is just west of Jays' sporting goods on Surrey road North of Clare. It is on the turn that goes over the x-way. Ring the bell and go in. Great shop.

Jacie hope you can find someone to carpool with. That is a great idea. Lots of shops between clare and Fremont to shop all the way back.

We had a great time. Lots of shopping. After the Brighton event, we are planning a Bay City Trip. Fabric Fair, the antique shops, the candy store and lunch. Stay tuned for more info.

Finally got to download pics from my camera. Had a great time on Wednesday. Met at Big Boy in Clare. We ate breakfast as we waited for everyone to arrive. From there we went to the Surrey Road Quilt Shop. it's a little Amish shop with beautiful fabrics and great prices. We left there and went to Elm Creek, just down the road in Farwell. It's a garden shop/craft store and they had a large selection of fabrics including the unusual. When we left there we headed about 12 miles down the road to Mt. Pleasant to a quilt shop where we were greeted by the owner and they had Pizza waiting. Lots of beautiful quilt samplings and fabrics. Needless to say, I spent my allowance plus some. I was the kid in the candy stores

What a good picture. for a change I had my mouth closed. lol The quilt block in the background is a class that my daughter teaches at the shop. It is from the book "As the cold winds blows" If anyone is interested. We sure had a good day. Can;t wait to do it again. Will have to see about Brighton, Kathy do you have room for an overnight?

I sure had a great day and it was still light when I drove home. Look forward to the next get-together. Now I've got to get busy and make some quilts with all that fabric. But first I have to get my 20 blocks done for an exchange from another board. We meet for the exchange on Oct. 2, so I don't have a lot of time left. I've only known about it all summer.

Kathi - Can let you know about an overnight after we set the date. I babysit 2 days a week and hubby babysits 3 days. His are overnighters (a 4 and a 2 yr. old).

Matilda 09-17-2010 02:22 PM
