I went to the first Long Beach show. The food vendors had absolutely no idea what they were getting into and ran out of food about halfway through lunch.
Nobody had done any research on attendance at Road2CA, Houston, etc., and had absolutely no idea how many quilters would show up. Second day they did a lot better.

The first year, they did run out of food. The city apparently thought there were a few grandmas coming to look at quilts. They had no idea! They have since learned their lesson(s). Every year you can tell that there has been at least one discussion after each show. Fortunately, I live within an hour and a half away. This year I will go on the guild bus. I take my lunch so I don't have to worry about buying over-priced food. That way I keep money for the "important" buys (whatever they might be). One year, there was a vendor that actually sold good quality fat quarters for $1.00 each. Haven't seen them since. One can only hope.

DH and I are planning to go Friday only. We had wanted to stay over night and go Saturday too but found it rediculously expensive. I go to the Road to California all the time and find hotel and parking more feasable. This is my first time to the Long Beach show.
