Default Valley Fire Project

I hope this is the appropriate place to post this.

Kerrie's Quilting in Lakeport, CA is coordinating the Fire Project for quilting friends who have nothing left but ashes.

If you would like to help turn ashes to beauty please make a quilt block – applique a heart in the center of a CUT 10” square using pastel colors, sign your name and town and mail to Kerrie’s Quilting 1853 N. High St. Lakeport, CA 95453.

The blocks will be set together to make quilts for at least 5 ladies that I know of who lost all their sewing/quilting things in the fire.

Deadline—October 8

We also lost our home in the San Bruno Gas line explosion of 2010. I know that we were given a quilt after and it really helped the healing. Is it possible to get other quilting supplies to them for their future use? I thought I would never quilt again, but then some wonderful people shared fabric and tools with me. Right now my small quilt group is making pillowcases from that fabric to donate to the fire victims.

Does the applique need to be needle turn or is a fused heart and stitch heart ok too?

What an awesome offer. I would call Kerrie at Kerrie' Quilting and see what is lined up. (707) 263-8555 or email her at [email protected]

I do not believe they care HOW the heart is appliquéd.

Mine is fused and edge stitched.

THANK YOU!

I have also spread the word on Facebook - and not just to quilters. One does not need to be a quilter to cut out and 10" square and appliqué a heart on it!

When I get back from vacation, I will get a couple made and sent off. In the mean time, it would be nice to see a few that people make.
