OK, I am going to Vermont a week from today for a week. My husband is recuperating from Open heart surgery and we already had out time share schedules and the doc said go for it as long as he does nothing strenuous. I do not think that going to quilt shops would be considered strenuous for him , right? :D Now if it was me I might have to stay away since my heart rate goes up... So my question is does anyone know of some quilt shops in Vermont???? OH please..... please tell me there are some around.. I am looking forward to doing some therapy for me by at least looking around. I was in a terrible grouchy mood yesterday and I just know if I spent a couple of hours at my machine I would feel better, unfortunately I have been busy with taking kids everywhere and taking care of hubby. He has only been out of the hospital for a week and today he has to see a gastro doc because of a blockage in his esophagus.,.. more docs...

Sorry this is so long but had to ask since I know someone on this board will know. Thanks everyone...

There's a great shop in Wilmington called Norton House http://www.norquilt.com/ but I think the best "quilt draw" in the state of Vermont is the Shelburne Museum. http://shelburnemuseum.org/collections/quilts/ Current exhibitions include the Alzheimer's: Forgetting Piece by Piece quilts.

There is also the Bennington Museum, home of the Jane Stickle quilt. The quilt is displayed every September and October, so you just might catch it (check for actual dates for 2010) http://www.benningtonmuseum.org/index.html They, of course, have other quilts and textiles on display year 'round.

http://www.quilterstravelcompanion.c...ps/Vermont.htm

This is a link to the Quilters Companion Website. It lists several Quilt Shops in Vermont. I have their book. It is a wonderful resource for traveling. My husband and I are leaving for a vacation to the panhandle of Idaho and western Montana. My Quilters's Companion is going with me.

We are planning a trip to Vermont in late October as well! DH told me to find all the quilt shops I can. We are going up Route 100 from around the Chester area up. I've heard there is a nice quilt shop in Chester.
Interested to see any suggestions as well.

Quilting Fan - sorry to hear about your DH. I hope you have a fun and relaxing time away. Please be sure to let us know where the good places are!
