Default where are best quilt stores in Des Moines Iowa and surrounding area?

Hi i am from Des Moines and rarely get back there. I havent been there too much since I started quilting 10 years ago. I am staying in Ankeny Iowa and it looks like there are a few there, I know of one in West Des Moines and of course Fons and Porters ..My question is a friend and I are going to spend one day going to quilt shops in the area.
Which ones do you all reccommend and ones to stay away from if any...
I dont mind going to some in suburbs of Des Moines either..
Thanks for any input and suggestions,
Daisey

I don't know much about Des Moines but there is one right in "old town" Ankeny and I don't remember the name. If you get a chance to go north Ames has "Quilting Connection" at the corner of Main and Kellogg. It is packed with material and friendly clerks.
The about 7 miles east of just outside of Nevada is Block Party Studios, Inc. They have lots of specially printed sayings and labels.
Those are the 3 I go to the most.

There is one in Ankeny. My absolute favorite is in Ames, about 20 miles north of Ankeny. It's a pretty big store. Here is my list:

Ankeny - Quilters Cupboard, 706 SW 3rd St, 515-963-8758, quilterscupboardiowa.com
Ames - Quilting Connection, 238 Main St, 515-233-3048, iaquilts.com
Clive - Creekside Quilting, 9926 Swanson Blvd, 515-276-1977, creekside-quilting.com
West Des Moines - Quilt Block, 325 5th St, 515 255 1010, iowaquiltblock.com

There may be more in surrounding towns, but the Des Moines area only has the last two. If anyone else knows of more, I'd love to hear about it.

There is also a neat quilt shop in Indianola called "The stitching Place" and owner is so helpful. Tive it a try - Indianola is a suburb of Des Moines.

Ditto. I also love the quilt store in Newton and there is a small but nice one in Jewel. If you are going north, there are quite a few nice ones in Northern Iowa! Happy Shopping!!

Default Cedar Rapids....

If you want to make a short road trip, there is Pine Needles in Cedar Rapids. Tons of fabric and extremely helpful staff. Two stories of quilts on the walls. Nice and roomy. I love this store. It's about 2 1/2 hours from us in Illinois and I like to make the trip at least a couple of times a year. So very worth it!

Creekside Quilting is the best. The shop owner and staff are super. They have many lines, tons of samples, etc. Well worth your visit.
