I started this quilt about two years ago. It's been sitting in my closet waiting to be quilted for nearly one full year. I was about to have another finish, and I couldn't stand the thought of having two quilt tops that needed quilting, so I finished this one up.
I free motion quilted it on my domestic sewing machine. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but I did a series of wavy lines on the yellow blocks. The yellow fabric suggested beach sand to me, and so I used a design intended to evoke the idea of sand dunes. Then I just did waves in the blue border . . . live crashing ocean waves on the beach.
This is only about my fourth try at FMQ, and so I chose threads that would be difficult to see. If you look closely, I think you might be able to see the quilting. In any case, I hope you like my quilt! This is 44 inches square, and I'm intending to hang it in my sewing room.
