My dad came over this afternoon to help work on some plumbing problems at my house. He had just picked up several 4' x 8' sheets of coroplast for my sister's vinyl graphics business. When I went out to his truck, I about croaked. Covering the plastic was a QUILT! He had grabbed it from his brother's place (which used to be my grandmother's home before she passed away two years ago.) He told me that my uncle wanted to get rid of all my grandma's quilts, so he was just going to use it for a junk blanket. I quickly swapped him the quilt for an old carpet to cover the plastic sheets in his truck.
I did ask him if he could get me the rest of the quilts from my uncle so that nothing like this would happen again. The quilt below is machine quilted, with applique centers. It looks like it has been free-motion quilted with a long-arm, so it probably is not that old, but I really don't care.

(I rescued a quilt from my uncle's a few years ago because he was using it as a dust cover over a couch in storage. That one was made by my great grandmother and even though it needed repair, I still wanted it.)

My daughter has claimed this quilt for her bedroom... so she is trying it out.

Good for you for rescuing the quilts.

Your children look like they get along well and I think this quilt will be perfect for your daughter. :D

It is amazing how little people care about the love and work that goes into a quilt. Hope you get the rescue the rest.

Thank goodness you saw it before it got messed up. That's a really nice quilt. I'm still trying to find out what happened to all the quilts my grandmother made and had stashed in her closet. I wonder which cousin has them or if they got put in the pile of trash to burn when the house got cleaned out. No telling!
