"Scorhill Circle" Mixed textile landscape
#1
This was fun! Like being back at playschool but with a slightly bigger budget!
I sketched the piece actual size from a photograph then pieced the background using freezer paper templates. Then I embellished the background using silk waste, yarn and fabric scraps, organza, bits of mesh, there's some green corduroy in the pine trees from an old shirt of my son's and the shadow bottom right is a piece of nylon from a pair of tights (pantyhose)! The stones were then fusible appliqued on top and the whole piece thread painted freehand. It measures 25" x 19" and is a scene of standing stones on Dartmoor near where I live in England. I'm about to start another one based on a photo of a seagull against the sky that Hans, my partner took recently when we were walking on the beach. Thanks for looking. :-D
