Here is what I have done so far. I think it looks horribly messy. All the stitching is crooked and wavy...but at this point...it's adding serious character to my quilt. I have enough of a border to do a nice large scallop border. I have an idea of how I'm going to do it, and with the help of my Better Homes and Gardens Complete Guide to Quilting, I have step by step instructions.

For those of you who have done large scallop borders...what are your tips and secrets to a beautiful border?

Hi Blizzard. I am from the Albany NY area too!

Check out the tutorials. Eddie posted a fantastic one for doing a scalloped border. Here is a link

Really? I know Pittstown isn't too far from here?

I like the pattern. I've tried it a few times but it is difficult for me. How big is your quilt?

It's 51" L, 38 1/2" W through the centers.
