Default 3D pinwheel quilt

I started this the day after Christmas and had it finished ahead of time for a baby shower that was last Sunday - woo-hoo I must admit that there are times that a quilt I've made as a gift is fluffing in the dryer when it is time to be wrapping it up! After washing this one, I was a little disappointed in the pinwheels. It was my first attempt the make them 3D. I tried ironing them when the quilt was still a damp, I didn't want them to lie flat. Seems like there was nothing I could do to make them puff nicely. I rolled a scrap of batting into a tight little cone and stuck into the pinwheel when ironing, but it still looked kind of wrinkly and bunched up. I finally decided that the first time she washed it, it will look this way and I doubt that she'd ever take time to iron it. So, it has that nice antique, shabby chic look.

BTW, the quilt was a hit, both the mommy-to-be and her mom (one of my best friends) were fight back tears.

Don't you just love it when someone truly enjoys what you've made for them! Love the colors you chose. Very pretty!
