    Default AAQI Quilt vote please

This is my latest AAQI quilt. I'm not liking the scroll and beading. What do you think: leave them or rip them? I've decided to get other people's opinions and go with the majority. So far family says leave them. My vote is to rip them out. You can't see in the photo, but the quilting is a line of scrolls in the sashing and I was trying to replicate that. I just don't think it looks right.

I like the idea of putting a scroll there ... the yellow one is OK, but the beaded one doesn't compliment the quilt. The medium you are using doesn't lend itself to nice smooth edges and with this simple straight line piecing I think smooth edges (even if curved) is called for ... the uneven edges of the beads just doesn't fit to my eye.

Perhaps another medium would work better ... something metallic perhaps, something that can be molded into shape.

Something like the seahorse tooled out of a soda can in the pic on this page - but in the shape you want and not using the printed side of the can.

I'm afraid the beads don't appeal to me, either. If you're looking for a bit of sparkle, maybe you could find a bit of metallic braid, for the shape.

They don't work for me but I think you should listen to your heart (eye). Thanks for asking our opinion.

Often times accents need to come in odd numbers, so taking a away one or adding another scroll might be the answer. Personally--Doghouse mom explained it very well; the color of the beading is a little off from the clear colors of your solids. The yellow scroll complements the other colors as well as your lovely scroll quilting.

I agree with losing the beads and an odd number of embellishments. If you have more of the gold, put one under the first one, then another to replace the beaded scroll. Just my ideas. Nice mini.
