This is my current project. I did some scrappy squares using fabric scraps from the box I inherited from my Mom. She had saved all these fabrics from clothes she & I made for me when I was in jr & sr high school. The majority of the box will be used to make a quilt, but thought it would be fun & sentimental to use some of them to make things for in my sewing room. So, here's what I have done so far. The non-scrappy squares are new fabrics. Can you guess what it will be? Not to worry - More pics & some clues to come as I get more finished on it.

Just what I needed to see on this drab morning! It is going to be beautiful. I for years chose darker primary colors ,but here lately I am really loving all these brights I am seeing .

I think you are making a cover for your sewing machine. I like your idea for fabric.

That will be a real memory, nostalgic quilt. Hmm, I'll agree with machine covers.

 YES! I leave the machine up 90% of the time, so I thought a bright & cheery cover would be nice. Plus...I wouldn't be sewing today if it hadn't been for my Mom. She taught me how to sew, lead my 4-H sewing group for 6 years, took me to 4-H Dress Revue competitions, bought me my Featherweight when I was 12 or 13 yrs old, and her final gift to me was the box of scraps and her Singer 403a (the one you can kind of see in the picture). I owe a lot to her & this is another way that I can enjoy her memory.

Can you share where you got your cutting mat at? I love how long it is. Around here I have only seen the long ones in clear.
