I love the quilt and all the scrap color. I am trying to figure out your discription- did you use all of a JL or what do you mean by JL star points? If only a portion of the block-what part and how did it work?

I really looks awesome.
Yes, I used all of a JL and all of a BB. What I mean by JL star points is I call this whole block a star block because when I look at the JL, I see stars. Look at the intersection of the JL and with your eyes follow all the HST's around the block and you'll see a 'star' form. You have to look hard. Do you see it? So I alternate this 'star' block with the BB's 12 4P's that form when 4 sections are joined and that's a 4P block. So the big 4P block is then alternated with the 'star' block. That's how I joined it all and alternated it all. Does that make sense now? On page 4, for quick reference, you can click on my links of the 2 blocks so you can see each one separately. I'll go get the links and add them here. Hope that helps! I hope you see the stars like I do. It just helps me identify what I'm doing by naming the blocks. Thank you, starshine, for that great question! Maybe it will help someone else too!

Here's the 2 blocks so we can use our imagination in how it would look merging them! I always thought there was a Road to Arkansas, but there's not so included the pic of Arkansas Crossroads. That would be interesting mixed with JL too! Here are the links so we can all imagine:

Thank you so much, jaciqltznok!!

here's the BB bl:

JFYI, the BB block has (4) 4P's that come together; mine has 12 4P's!

So it's a lot bigger! Hope you can see the stars -- they are so pretty! n2

Here are the pics of the 2 blocks I alternated to make this quilt; 10 4P with 10 star blocks.

Someone asked for measurements so this is for you too:

Here are the specifics for the Jacob's Ladder quilt if you make it:

# of cut 2" squares needed - 640
# of cut 3.5" HST's needed - 320

# of blocks needed: 10 for the 4P's
# of blocks needed: 10 for the HST's

# of 4P's needed: 160 (120 + 40 total)
# of HST's needed: 160 (120 + 40 total)

cut 3.5" border
fin. @ 3"

4P's fin. @ 3"
HST's fin. @ 3"
blocks fin. @ 12"

quilt fin. @ 54 x 67

Thanks everyone! Hope your quilt turns out great! n2

To help you in doing the Big 4P block easier, I went to paint.net today to draw a formula to go by in doing 1 block of the 4P section that you alternate with the star blocks. It's much easier to chainsew 3 or 4 of these blocks at one time and then assemble into the big 4P. After you have one made, then you can do the others the same way and turn them any way you want or swap with other sections to get what you want where you want it. And chainsewing them is easier than making all 12 4P's at once. Hope this is clear. Anyway, here is the block I drew showing the placement of darks and lights. You'll then make 3 more just like it for the big 4P block. n2
