    So sorry for not replying before this - I was finally bored and decided to look at my old topics....lol.

    Yes, the center was pieced - via hot ribbon applique method. The pattern is called "Lettie's Journey". If interested you can get the book at "dutchquilter.com". The quilt tell the journey of a pioneer family from Holland on their way to America and settling in CA. Thus the ocean waves, bear paw, etc. But since I am no longer a CA resident, I am doing another with a different center panel for the state flower of MN (pink ladyslipper). It wouldn't be that hard to change the center panel to reflect where anyone lived.
