Amethyst Sky Art Quilt
I want to share with you a little 15 x 17" art quilt I just finished called "Amethyst Sky". The background is heat fused applique and the tree in the foreground is a freehand done thread embroidered piece that is first made in a hoop with water soluble stabilizer, then appliqued to the background. The fine branches/twigs are added last.
Learning to make the "tree" was a fun technique that I learned in a class from a Sulky thread rep last year at our LQS. The tree took an entire day of stitching to complete and has a dozen or so different colors/varieties of thread in it.
This little piece is destined for our county fair in August and then on to its permanent home with my granddaughter for her birthday in September.

As soon as I viewed your quilt, I looked to see where you are located....and I was right in thinkin' you may be from AZ cause your quilt looks like a lot of the scenery I see when I visit. The rock formations look real similar to those by the Colorado River near Parker...
