I'm not for sure who made this quilt. I know it was made by someone on my Dad's side of the family. This one is also made by someone from a small community outside of Murfreesboro, TN. It is navy and red. One small section is in green. I guess she ran out of blue! It is hand pieced and quilted. It measures 88"x72". I believe it was made in the 1880's. My daughter saw this quilt Christmas day, and now she wants one by this pattern! Any know the name of this pattern?

One I have seen like it was embroidered out from each center--and called "Spider Web". I know I have seen this pattern---will look in my notebook of clippings of old KC Star patterns....anyone have Brackman's book? Or Ginnie Malones?

No pattern, but as for making it, I would start with the blue triangle that looks like it is in between the blocks. Then add a pieced triangle (four strips of fabric) to each side of it to make a bigger triangle. These can then be sewn together to make the pattern. The pieced triangles could be cut from a strip, cutting one up and one down to save fabric.

Wonderful quilt, the quilting really sets off the pattern. With strip piecing and the rulers we now have this would be a fairly easy quilt to duplicate. Our grandmothers didn't have it so easy so we really appreciate the hard work they put into making their quilts.
