Thank you all very much for your kind comments.

I have no idea what he orginal name of the quilt was. The quilt on which I based it was in the background in a photo I saw, and really looked quite different. I saw a quilt that was uneven log cabin blocks with gold centers. I changed it in a number of ways. I did tear drop shaped appliques for the flames. As recall, the original tree pattern had a different kind of background. The presents were my own idea. I made a bunch of blocks up then arranged and rearranged them until I was pressed for time and put it together. After I was disabled off the job, I stopped wearing earrings, as they drove DH's parrot crazy. He kept removing and tossing them. I don't know what he thouht they were. Paracites? If you have a desing wall, the pattern is relatively easy to reproduce. I think I would do it the candles something like this today, or maybe one more 'round' of strips.
