Thought you might be interested in seeing this quilt. My DIL brought it to me to see if I would know how to wash it and get rid of some stains on it. Her grandmother made it probably 50 years ago, maybe more. She was also wondering if I knew where the designs came from. I told her it was called redwork. I thought maybe they were from the old Workbasket magazines. I remember some of those designs from when I was little and my mother collected them. I washed it on gentle cycle with warm water and Oxyclean and my detergent. Then I dried it in the dryer on warm. The stains are gone and it looks a little brighter. The hand quilting is perfect.

What a beautiful treasure. I remember the Workbasket Magazines. I think I still have some that Mama and I subscribed to.
