I found this in a bag of 'stuff' I bought at a garage sale. I finished it and have it hanging on my wall. I have no idea where it comes from or who these ladies are. Isn't it a shame after their work it was never finished.

Wesleyan is defintely a Methodist group of ladies. Maybe the college or the ladies of the church. Does make you wonder!

Wesleyan is a university in Connecticut. you could write to them and find out if those ladies were in that class.

Wow. That is a pretty old block. Wonder why it was never finished and if someone who signed the piece was related to the people who sold it in the Grage sale.

Great job! I always get really sad when I see a box of blocks or sewing things at the Goodwill or something...it seems that it should be with a family member :( Of course the saddest thing I've ever seen was a purple heart medal on Ebay! I was SO saddened by that.

While there are Wesleyan colleges in many states, Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, - an extremely prestigious college - is the most likely source of this piece.

If you're interested in sharing it with them, I'll bet they'd love to know about this and would enjoy putting the "who did this" question out to their alumni!
