I just completed an 8' painted wood quilt sign to be part of the Appalachian Trail project in TN. This one is located in Bradley County at the Hyderhangout Quilt Shop in Cleveland, TN and it's "The Road To Tennessee" pattern. There are quilt designs attached to barns, buildings and rural homes thru out TN and maps to follow the trail for each county. Moosegirl

These are also popular in the mountains of North Carolina. Especially around Ashe, Avery, Watauga, and Alexander Counties. It was a project started at one of the high schools.

My daughter lives in Spruce Pine, NC, about 65 miles north east of Asheville. There is a big quilt trails project going on up there, too. There are over 100 quilting signs up all over the place, in Spruce Pine, Bakersville, Burnsville, and surrounding areas. We got to drive around and see most of them when we were there in June. They are really something!!! So beautiful, and very creative!! The blocks are matched with the store....so a hardware store had Buzzsaw, etc.
